Eadweard Muybridge, Encyclopedia of Motion

Eadweard Muybridge sought to break down motion. He created his Encyclopedia of Motion by photographing both humans and animals in over 20,000 positions of movement. For this project, he borrowed animals from the Philadelphia Zoo and with the use of multiple cameras, recorded each second of movement, in effect, stopping time to put it back in motion.
